Firefox 136.0.1

11 Maart 2025 om 17:55

Fixed

  • Fixed an issue where a cookie size limit caused problems with website cookie management when using the CookieStore API. This could cause login and other state-related issues. (Bug 1950565)

  • Fixed an issue where Control/Command+L did not focus the address bar in new windows. (Bug 1947723)

Unresolved

  • Users clearing "History" and/or "Site settings" on shutdown on previous versions will also have clearing "Cookies and site data" and "Temporary cached files and pages" enabled after updating to Fx136 even if they previously haven't checked these settings.
Affected users can go to "Privacy & Security" settings directly after the upgrade and uncheck both boxes to avoid getting logged out. (Bug 1952564)

Paint.NET 5.1.5 is now available

11 Maart 2025 om 16:47

This update adds JPEG XL (*.jxl) support, improves quantization color quality, updates AVIF loading to better handle mapping HDR images to SDR, and fixes some bugs.

Get the Update

There are two releases of Paint.NET:

  • Microsoft Store release (recommended)
    • You can purchase it here. This helps fund development and is an alternative or supplement to sending in a donation. In addition, updates happen automatically in the background when you’re not using the app.
    • If you already have it installed, the update should happen automatically once Microsoft certifies the update, usually within the next day or so. To get the update immediately (once it’s certified), you can follow the instructions listed here.
  • Classic Desktop release
    • Download the installer from the website. This is the recommended download if you don’t have Paint.NET installed. It can also be used to update the app.
    • If you already have it installed, you should be offered the update automatically within the next few days, but you can also get it immediately by going to ⚙ Settings -> Updates -> Check Now.
    • Offline Installers and Portable ZIPs are available over on GitHub.

Change Log

Changes since 5.1.4:

  • New: JPEG XL (*.jxl) images are now supported by way of bundling @null54‘s JpegXLFileType plugin
  • Fixed the Levels adjustment not honoring the active selection.
  • Fixed some more mouse cursor issues when completing certain actions with certain tools.
  • Fixed some keyboard shortcuts in the Adjustments menu not working reliably.
  • Fixed most cases of tooltips blinking on/off when drawn near the bottom of the screen (thanks @toe_head2001!).
  • Fixed some new high-DPI scaling issues in toolbar dropdowns.
  • Improved quantization quality for Effects->Color-Quantize and when saving an image at 8-bit depth and below. This was done by merging octree node colors in linear gamma space.
  • Fixed some incorrect background text color rendering in the status bar.
  • Updated the bundled AvifFileType plugin to v3.12.1, which improves conversion from HDR images utilizing the Rec. 2020 PQ color space (thanks @null54).
  • Updated the bundled WebpFileType plugin to v1.5.0 (thanks @null54!).

BREAKING CHANGES

  • macOS must be at least 11 to run Companion. This is due to nodejs dropping support for older versions.

📣 CORE FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS

  • Support more than 99 pages.
    • New configs will default to a single page.
    • Pages can be reordered
  • Modernise action advancement
    • Per delay action has been removed and replaced with a new 'Wait' action.
    • A new 'action group' action exists, which can contain other actions. This allows finer control over action execution and order
  • DB file is now written with SQLite. This will make it more resilient to crashes, improves performance when saving and avoids issues with the db being too big
  • Custom variables are renamed from $(internal:custom_test) to $(custom:test). The old names still work, but will be removed in a future version
  • Support VEC footpedal as a surface
  • Check connection Stream Deck Studio devices for available firmware updates
  • Expanded keymap for emulators
  • Connection labels can be edited while connections are disabled
  • Add $(internal:uptime) variable
  • Performance improvements for variables
  • Performance improvements for button drawing
  • Option to dismiss 'resize grid to surfaces' prompt
  • Allow import and export to be done in YAML
  • Filename of exports can be customised
  • Command line option to disable admin ui password
  • Add one time event trigger
  • Support satellite over websockets
  • Connection of actions and feedbacks can be changed
  • Improve module status clarity
  • Improve custom variables collapsed view
  • Support HTTP GET for module variables
  • Backend code refactoring to make Companion more robust
  • Modules can now be built with node22
  • Polish getting started docs
  • Add Whats new modal and sidebar link

🐞 BUG FIXES

  • TCP protocols not disconnecting clients when disabling server
  • Allow some missing expression operators
  • TCP/UDP api not accepting button text or custom variables containing slashes
  • Surface rotation not being considered when checking if a surface overflows the grid bounds
  • Indicate when internal variable input fields have an invalid value
  • internal:bind_ip always undefined

Proxmox Mail Gateway 8.2 released

27 Februari 2025 om 12:35

VIENNA, Austria – February 27, 2025 – Enterprise software developer Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH ("Proxmox" or the "Company") today released Proxmox Mail Gateway 8.2, the latest version of its open-source email security solution. The Mail Gateway platform is a complete operating system based on Debian 12.9 “Bookworm”, but defaulting to the newer Linux kernel 6.8 and allowing for opt-in use of kernel 6.11. It includes ZFS 2.2.7 and SpamAssasin 4.0.1 with updated rulesets.

The anti-spam and antivirus filtering solution functions as a full-featured mail proxy, that is deployed between the firewall and the internal mail server. It protects organizations against threats, such as spam, viruses, Trojans, and phishing emails.

What’s new in Proxmox Mail Gateway 8.2

  • Single sign-on: This version simplifies access management by integrating support for multiple authentication realms in the backend login. This eliminates the need to manage specific authentication details, enabling administrators to log into Proxmox Mail Gateway using single sign-on (SSO) authentication schemes with the new OpenID Connect as the first supported authentication protocol. This enables logging in through public as well as self-hosted services like Keycloak, Zitadel or LemonLDAP::NG.
  • Enhanced rule system: The Proxmox development team adds further improvements to the configuration options of the comprehensive object-oriented rule system, by which the mail flow can be controlled and filtered. The filtering of the mail's content by Content-Type can now be configured to ignore information from the filename and the Content-Type header field, and to rely solely on file signature based detection, allowing for accurate filtering of attachments. Furthermore, the filtering of mail header fields can now be restricted to the top header section, thereby providing the option to exclude headers in attached emails from the filter.
  • DKIM signature for emails generated by Proxmox Mail Gateway: Users can now set the From-header for emails generated by Proxmox Mail Gateway, like for example for notifications from the rule system, admin reports, or backup notifications. These emails are signed with DKIM if the installation uses the header information to obtain the domain for signing.
  • Automated and unattended installation: Proxmox Mail Gateway now supports automated and unattended installation making large deployments significantly easier. Proxmox offers a ‘proxmox-auto-install-assistant’ tool that fully automates the setup process on bare-metal. Automated installation allows for the rapid deployment of Proxmox Mail Gateway hosts without the need for manual access to the systems, saving time and reducing the risk of errors. To use this method, an answer file must be prepared with the necessary configuration settings for the installation process. This file can be provided directly in the ISO, on an additional disk such as a USB flash drive, or over the network. Tailor-made configurations for customized deployments can be achieved by running a custom script on first boot after an automated installation.

Availability

Proxmox Mail Gateway is released under the GNU Affero GPL, v3 and is available as an ISO download, which can be installed on bare metal or on a virtual machine. The ISO contains an installation wizard that automatically installs and configures all the necessary components on the host. This eliminates the need for manual configuration later. The ISO contains the complete feature-set and is available for download.

Additionally, you can install Proxmox Mail Gateway as a container appliance inside Proxmox VE.

For enterprise use, Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH offers a subscription service that provides, at all levels, access to the extensively tested Enterprise Repository. This repository provides regular updates via the web interface and is recommended for production use. At the Basic and higher subscription levels, technical support from the Proxmox team is also available. Subscription prices start at EUR 180 per host per year for unlimited users and domains.

Proxmox Backup Server 3.3 released

28 November 2024 om 11:21

VIENNA, Austria – November 28, 2024 – Enterprise software developer Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH (henceforth "Proxmox") today announced version 3.3 of its open-source server backup solution. The enterprise solution for backing up and restoring VMs, containers, and physical hosts supports incremental backups, deduplication, Zstandard compression, and authenticated encryption.

Enhancements in Proxmox Backup Server 3.3

  • New "push" direction for sync jobs: Sync jobs let users create offsite backups by syncing datastore contents between onsite and offsite Proxmox Backup Servers. Previously, the offsite server had to "pull" backup snapshots from the onsite server. Now, with the new "push" option, the onsite server can send backups to the offsite server, even if the offsite server can't initiate the network connection.
  • Support for removable datastores: Proxmox Backup Server stores backup snapshots in so-called datastores, and multiple datastores can be configured as needed. With this version, it is now possible to create datastores on removable storage media. Such a "removable datastore" can be used across multiple servers. Using the web interface or the command line, the storage medium can be removed by unmounting the "removable datastore." The datastore can then be re-added by remounting it—either on the same Proxmox Backup Server instance or a different one.
  • Webhook target for the notification system: The flexible notification system in Proxmox solutions uses a matcher-based approach to route notifications to various target types, allowing for granular control over when, where, and how notifications are sent. The new webhook notification target enables users to trigger HTTP requests for events like sync jobs, backup verification, or garbage collection. It supports customizable request headers and body content, allowing for seamless integration with any webhook-compatible service.
  • Faster host and container backups: When backing up host filesystems or containers from Proxmox VE to Proxmox Backup Server, it is now possible to efficiently detect files that have not changed since the last backup snapshot. When possible, unchanged files are not processed, which can make file-based backups complete faster.
  • This version is based on Debian 12.8 (“Bookworm”), but uses the newer Linux kernel 6.8.12-4 as stable default and kernel 6.11 as opt-in. The backup platform comes with ZFS 2.2.6 (with compatibility patches for Kernel 6.11).

Proxmox Backup Server seamlessly integrates into Proxmox Virtual Environment – users just need to add a datastore of the Proxmox Backup Server as a new storage backup target to Proxmox VE.

Availability

The centrally managed software stack Proxmox Backup Server 3.3 is now available for download.

The downloadable ISO image can be quickly installed on bare-metal using the installation wizard. Distribution upgrades from older versions of Proxmox Backup Server are possible via APT. It is also possible to install Proxmox Backup Server on top of Debian.

License: Proxmox Backup Server is free and open-source software, published under the GNU AGPLv3.

Support Subscriptions: For enterprise users, Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH offers a subscription-based support model, which provides access to the extensively tested Enterprise Repository, with regular updates via the web interface, as well as technical support on a subscription basis. Prices start at EUR 520 per server, including unlimited backup storage and unlimited backup-clients.

Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.3 released

21 November 2024 om 14:10

VIENNA, Austria – November 21, 2024 – Enterprise software developer Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH (henceforth "Proxmox") has today released version 8.3 of its virtualization platform, Proxmox Virtual Environment. The enterprise virtualization solution features essential management tools and a user-friendly web interface, allowing organizations of all sizes, sectors and industries, to deploy open-source solutions in clustered, highly available setups. The world-wide customer base uses it to deploy extensive infrastructures across vast geographical locations, and integrate multiple applications seamlessly.

This version is based on Debian 12.8 (Bookworm), but uses the Linux kernel 6.8.12-4 as stable default, and allows for opt-in use of kernel 6.11.  The software includes updates to the latest versions of leading open-source technologies for virtual environments like QEMU 9.0.2, LXC 6.0.0 , and ZFS 2.2.6 (with compatibility patches for Kernel 6.11).

Enhancements in Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.3

  • Alignment of the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) stack with the firewall: The SDN technology allows users to create virtual zones and networks (VNets), enabling them to effectively manage and control complex networking configurations and multitenancy setups via the web interface of Proxmox VE. The SDN stack is now more closely integrated with the firewall, with the ability to automatically generate IP sets for VNets and virtual guests managed by the IP address management plugin. Referencing IP sets in the firewall rules simplifies their creation and maintenance. In addition, the opt-in firewall based on nftables now has the capability to filter forwarded network traffic at the host and at the virtual network (VNet) level. For example, this can be used to restrict SNAT traffic or traffic flowing from one Simple Zone to another.
  • Webhook target for the notification system: The flexible notification system in Proxmox solutions uses a matcher-based approach to route notifications to various target types, allowing for granular control over when, where, and how notifications are sent. The new webhook notification target enables users to trigger HTTP requests for events like system updates, cluster node issues, or backup job. It supports customizable request headers and body content, allowing for seamless integration with any webhook-compatible service.
  • A new ‘Tag View’ functionality for the resource tree offers users a rapid and customizable overview of the virtual guests: The new ‘Tag View’ allows users to view their virtual guests grouped according to the assigned tags.
  • Support for Ceph Squid (technology preview): Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.3 adds support for Ceph Squid 19.2.0 and continues to support Ceph Reef 18.2.4 and Ceph Quincy 17.2.7. The preferred Ceph version can be selected during the installation process.
  • Faster container backups: When backing up containers to Proxmox Backup Server, it is now possible to efficiently detect files that have not changed since the last backup snapshot. When possible, unchanged files are not processed, which can make container backups complete faster.
  • Migration from other hypervisors: The Proxmox developers have streamlined the guest import from files in Open Virtualization Format (OVF) and Open Virtualization Appliances (OVA). Proxmox VE now allows users to import OVF and OVA files directly from file-based storage via the web interface. This simplifies the guest import process and allows users to either upload OVA files from a local machine or download them from a URL. Additionally, Proxmox VE also offers an import wizard facilitating the migration of VMs from other hypervisors, such as VMware guests.

Automated installation allows for the rapid deployment of Proxmox Backup hosts without the need for manual access to the systems, saving time and reducing the risk of errors. To use this method, an answer file must be prepared with the necessary configuration settings for the installation process. This file can be provided directly in the ISO, on an additional disk such as a USB flash drive, or over the network. Automated installation is useful in various scenarios, such as deploying large-scale infrastructure, automating the setup process, and ensuring consistent configurations across multiple systems.
  • Exclude backup groups from jobs: Group filters for sync jobs and for tape backup jobs can now exclude particular backup groups. In order to decide whether a job should process a particular backup group, „include“ filters are processed before the „exclude“ filters.
  • Overview of prune and garbage collection jobs: A new tab in the “Datastore” summary panel shows defined prune and garbage collection jobs for all datastores. This allows to quickly assess whether all datastores are correctly set up to regularly run important maintenance tasks. It also offers more flexibility in adjusting the times and avoiding the simultaneous execution of two or more garbage collection jobs, which could lead to unwanted hardware utilization overload.

Proxmox Backup Server seamlessly integrates into Proxmox Virtual Environment – users just need to add the storage for the Proxmox Backup Server as a new storage backup target to Proxmox VE.

Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.2 with Import Wizard released

22 April 2024 om 18:49

VIENNA, Austria – April 24, 2024 – Enterprise software developer Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH (henceforth "Proxmox") has today released version 8.2 of its server virtualization management platform, Proxmox Virtual Environment. The new version is based on Debian 12.5 (Bookworm), but using a newer Linux kernel 6.8, and includes updates to the latest versions of leading open-source technologies for virtual environments like QEMU 8.1, LXC 6.0, Ceph 18.2, and ZFS 2.2.

Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.2 comes with an import wizard to migrate VMware ESXi guests to Proxmox VE, with a new tool for automated installation from the ISO to bare-metal servers, a backup fleecing feature implementation to decouple slower backup storage from the VM performance, and several UI improvements.

Highlights in Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.2

  • Import Wizard for VMware ESXi VMs: Proxmox VE provides an integrated VM importer presented as storage plugin for native integration into the API and web-based user interface. It offers users the ability to import guests directly from other hypervisors. Currently, it allows to import VMware-based VMs (ESXi and vCenter). You can use this to import the VM as a whole, with most of the original configuration settings mapped to Proxmox VE's configuration model.
  • Automated and Unattended Installation: Proxmox offers a new ‘proxmox-auto-install-assistant tool that fully automates the setup process on bare-metal. Automated installation allows for the rapid deployment of Proxmox VE hosts without the need for manual access to the systems, saving time and reducing the risk of errors.
  • Backup Fleecing: When creating a backup of a running VM, a slow backup target can negatively impact guest IO performance during the backup process. Fleecing can reduce this impact by caching data blocks in a fleecing image rather than sending it directly to the backup target, which can help guest IO performance and even prevent hangs at the cost of requiring more storage space. Backup fleecing is especially beneficial when backing up IO-heavy guests to a remote Proxmox Backup Server or other backup storage with a slow network connection.
  • Firewall modernization with nftables (technology preview): Proxmox VE comes with a new firewall implementation that uses nftables instead of iptables. The opt-in feature in tech preview is written in the Rust programming language. Although the new implementation is close to feature parity with the existing one, the nftables firewall must be enabled manually and remains a preview to first gather feedback from the community.

Further enhancements

  • Device passthrough for containers via GUI: While the API and CLI have supported LXC device passthrough since version 8.1, GUI configuration is now possible as well.
  • Advanced backup settings: Backup jobs come with new advanced settings, including performance settings and bandwidth limits.
  • Custom ACME directories/providers: This release now supports custom ACME-enabled Certificate Authorities (CA) with optional External Account Binding (EAB) authentication.
  • Multiple enhancements in the GUI: Disabling the double-click editing option in the notes field makes it easier to select and copy text without accidentally opening the editor. On edit screens, the reset button is now in a new location reducing the risk of accidental clicks.

Availability

Proxmox VE 8.2 is available for download at https://www.proxmox.com/downloads. The ISO contains the complete feature-set and can be installed on bare-metal.

The virtualization platform from Proxmox comes stocked with all the essential management tools, as well as an easy-to-use, web-based user interface. This allows for simple, out-of-the-box management of the host, either through the command line or a standard web browser. Distribution upgrades from older versions of Proxmox VE are possible with apt. It’s also possible to install Proxmox VE 8.2 on top of Debian.

License: Proxmox Virtual Environment is free and open-source software, published under the GNU Affero General Public License, v3.

Support Subscriptions: For enterprise users, Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH offers a subscription-based support model, which provides access to the extensively tested Enterprise Repository, with regular updates via the web interface, as well as technical support on a subscription basis. Prices start at EUR 110 per year and CPU.

Proxmox Mail Gateway 8.1 with enhanced Rule System

27 Februari 2024 om 16:35

VIENNA, Austria – February 29, 2024 – Enterprise software developer Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH ("Proxmox" or the "Company") has today released Proxmox Mail Gateway 8.1, the latest version of its open-source email security solution. The Mail Gateway platform is a complete operating system based on Debian 12.5, but defaulting to a newer Linux kernel 6.5, and including ZFS 2.2.2 and PostgreSQL 15.6.

The anti-spam and anti-virus filtering solution functions as a full featured mail proxy, that is deployed between the firewall and the internal mail server. It protects organizations against threats, such as spam, viruses, Trojans, and phishing emails.

What's new in Proxmox Mail Gateway 8.1

  • Enhanced rule system: Proxmox Mail Gateway is known for its comprehensive object-oriented rule system, where the mail flow can be controlled and filtered. Improvements in this version now allow the selection of a “match-if” mode for entries in What/Who/When objects, and multiple objects in rules, providing flexible control over whether All, Any, Some but not all, or None must match.
  • DKIM signing: Optionally, DKIM signing can now select the signing domain based on header information instead of the envelope information. This allows for the configuration of more stringent DMARC policies in certain environments.
  • Support for secure boot: Like the Proxmox virtualization and backup solutions, this version 8.1 is now compatible with Secure Boot. With this security feature, the boot process of a computer can be protected by ensuring that only software with a valid digital signature launches on a machine. Proxmox Mail Gateway now includes a signed shim bootloader trusted by most hardware's UEFI implementations. This allows installing it in environments where Secure Boot is required and enabled. The documentation explains how an existing Proxmox Mail Gateway installation can be switched over to Secure Boot without reinstallation.
  • Management via web interface: A new filter- and search box added to the web interface simplifies the management of large deployments. Filtering is now possible in Relay Domains, Transport, Networks, and for Objects in the rule system. Additionally, Croatian and Georgian translations have been added, and translations for other languages have been improved.

Further notable enhancements

  • Proxmox ships its own heavily tweaked kernel which all products share. For the Mail Gateway, this is now also reflected in the renaming from pve-kernel and pve-headers to proxmox-kernel and proxmox-headers respectively in all relevant packages. The new proxmox-default-kernel and proxmox-default-headers meta-packages will depend on the currently recommended kernel-series.
  • SMTP smuggling mitigation: With a prompt response to the spoofing attack at SMTP protocol level at the end of 2023, the Postfix configuration was secured as quickly as possible against SMTP smuggling in line with the latest recommendations from upstream. Proxmox Mail Gateway users who have not yet updated are encouraged to do so and verify that they have not missed the template change.
  • Fixed: Restoring a Mail Gateway backup from a cluster with statistics, does not interfere with creating a fresh cluster on the restored node.
  • The Log Tracker tool, which powers the Tracking Center, now uses UTC by default for internal time calculations, eliminating problems with time zone changes such as switching from Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time and vice versa.

The ISO contains the complete feature-set and can be downloaded at https://www.proxmox.com/downloads
Additionally, you can install Proxmox Mail Gateway as a container appliance inside Proxmox VE.

For enterprise use, Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH offers a subscription service that provides access at all levels to the extensively tested, stable Enterprise Repository. This repository provides regular updates via the web interface and is recommended for production use. At the Basic and higher subscription levels, technical support from the Proxmox team is also available. Subscription pricing starts at EUR 175 per host per year for unlimited users and domains.

Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.1 with Software-Defined Network and Secure Boot

23 November 2023 om 10:19

VIENNA, Austria – November 23, 2023 – Enterprise software developer Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH (henceforth "Proxmox") today announced the release of version 8.1 of Proxmox Virtual Environment, its open-source server virtualization management platform. This version comes with several new features, support for Secure Boot, a Software-defined Network stack, a new flexible notification system, and many further enhancements and bug fixes.

Proxmox VE 8.1 is based on Debian 12.2 (“Bookworm”), but uses a newer Linux kernel 6.5 as stable default, and includes updates to the latest versions of leading open-source technologies for virtual environments like QEMU 8.1.2 and LXC 5.0.2. It comes with ZFS 2.2.0 including the most important bugfixes from 2.2.1 already. The virtualization platform adds support for Ceph Reef 18.2.0 and continues to support Ceph Quincy 17.2.7.

Highlights in Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.1

  • Support for Secure Boot: This version is now compatible with Secure Boot. This security feature is designed to protect the boot process of a computer by ensuring that only software with a valid digital signature launches on a machine. Proxmox VE now includes a signed shim bootloader trusted by most hardware's UEFI implementations. This allows installing Proxmox VE in environments with Secure Boot active.
  • Software-defined Network (SDN): With this version the core Software-defined Network (SDN) packages are installed by default. The SDN technology in Proxmox VE enables to create virtual zones and networks (VNets), which enables users to effectively manage and control complex networking configurations and multitenancy setups directly from the web interface at the datacenter level. Use cases for SDN range from an isolated private network on each individual node to complex overlay networks across multiple Proxmox VE clusters on different locations. The benefits result in a more responsive and adaptable network infrastructure that can scale according to business needs.
  • New Flexible Notification System: This release introduces a new framework that uses a matcher-based approach to route notifications. It lets users designate different target types as recipients of notifications. Alongside the current local Postfix MTA, supported targets include Gotify servers or SMTP servers that require SMTP authentication. Notification matchers determine which targets will get notifications for particular events based on predetermined rules. The new notification system now enables greater flexibility, allowing for more granular definitions of when, where, and how notifications are sent.
  • Support for Ceph Reef and Ceph Quincy: Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.1 adds support for Ceph Reef 18.2.0 and continues to support Ceph Quincy 17.2.7. The preferred Ceph version can be selected during the installation process. Ceph Reef brings better defaults improving performance and increased reading speed.
