We have just shipped an updated Steam Deck Client to the Preview/Beta channel.
General
Added the option to attach hardware specs when writing or updating a Steam User Review on a game's store page
Added the option to provide anonymized framerate data. When enabled Steam will collect gameplay framerate data, stored without connection to your Steam account but identified with the kind of hardware you are playing on. This data will help us learn about game compatibility and improve Steam. This feature is currently in Beta with a focus on devices running SteamOS.
When submitting feedback on whether you agree with a Deck Verified rating, if you disagree we'll now ask for the reason. Providing a reason is optional.
Display the highest resolution capsule image available for the featured game in the Recent Games carousel when online.
Fixed an issue that could make the currently selected element rapidly gain and lose focus which could also result in gamepad inputs being ignored.
Fixed an issue that made it impossible to install some games if you have a large game library.
Fixed an issue that prevented your selected keyboard theme from applying while in offline mode.
Fixed an issue that could cause the gaming mode footer to flicker or disappear.

Fixed an issue with Switch Pro Controller Home LEDs turning on when disabled
Fix a case where ABXY button options could be missing from configs

We started the Steam Hardware Blog as a way to specifically address topics surrounding Steam Hardware, and wanted to start by tackling some of the most frequently asked questions we've received since announcing these three new products on November 12th:
Before we dive into some of the hardware-specific questions we've seen, we want to get straight to the two we know everyone is wondering about the most: When will these be launching, and how much will they cost?
When we announced these products in November, we planned on being able to share specific pricing and launch dates by now. But the memory and storage shortages you've likely heard about across the industry have rapidly increased since then.Β The limited availability and growing prices of these critical components mean we must revisit our exact shipping schedule and pricing (especially around Steam Machine and Steam Frame).
Our goal of shipping all three products in the first half of the year has not changed. But we have work to do to land on concrete pricing and launch dates that we can confidently announce, being mindful of how quickly the circumstances around both of those things can change. We will keep you updated as much as we can as we finalize those plans as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we plan to use this blog to deliver additional content: From deep-dives into specific features (video and blog form) to updates and βwhatβs newβ writeups. In this first go-round, we thought it would be helpful to answer some of the other most-asked-about topics surrounding the new hardware.
FAQ:
Steam Frame and VR
Will Steam Frame support other streaming services? SteamOS has a built-in browser, and we expect streaming services to work in a theatrical browser mode.
How can I request a Steam Frame developer kit? Steamworks developers can submit a request for Steam Frame dev kits at the partner site here:
Supplies are limited, but we are sending out kits on an ongoing basis.
Will Steam Frame work with lighthouse base stations? It's not something we're working on, but we built Steam Frame to be modular and extensible so that the community and 3rd parties can build out the features and accessories that are important to them.
Can Steam Frame be used while wearing glasses? A bunch of people on the team wear glasses and use Steam Frame without issue, but it really depends on the width of the glasses frames. And while we don't have details to share yet, we are looking into making prescription lens inserts available ahead of launch.
I heard that Steam Frame has foveated streaming - is that the same thing as foveated rendering? What games support it? With Steam Frame, we are introducing a new feature called foveated streaming. While both use eye tracking data, the technology is different: β’Β Foveated renderingΒ uses eye tracking data so theΒ game only rendersΒ high resolution data in the portion of the viewport that the player is looking at. β’Β Foveated streaming,Β on the other hand, uses eye tracking data so that theΒ PC only streamsΒ high resolution data in the portion of the viewport the player is looking at. Since foveated streaming is a system-level feature, it applies to all games, and requires no game developer work. If a game implements foveated rendering, the benefits of that feature will stack with foveated streaming. Will Valve Index have ongoing product support? While we're no longer making Valve Index, we do intend to support Index owners the same way we have in the past on an ongoing basis.
Steam Machine How well can Steam Machine play newer, more demanding games on Steam? In our testing the majority of Steam titles play great at 4K 60FPS with FSR on Steam Machine. That said, there are some titles that currently require more upscaling than others, and it may be preferable to play at a lower framerate with VRR to maintain a 1080p internal resolution. In the meantime, we are working on HDMI VRR, investigating improved upscaling, and optimizing ray tracing performance in the driver, so we are approaching this from multiple angles.
Will third parties be able to make faceplates for Steam Machine? Will you be making the CAD for those faceplates available? Yes, we plan to share faceplate CAD, specs, and details in the coming months, for customers and manufacturers to make their own.
What components of Steam Machine are upgradeable? Steam Machine's SSD (NVMe 2230 or 2280) and memory (DDR5 SODIMMs) are both accessible and upgradeable.
Steam Controller
Can I play non steam games with the Steam Controller? The controller can work with any game compatible with the Steam Overlay.
More to come Keep following the Steam Hardware Blog to stay up to date on the latest news and information as we head toward launch and beyond. We'll answer more questions as we go, and also plan to release additional content that lets us deep-dive into specific features and other topics related to the hardware.

Today's Steam update launches an entirely new set of 12 Community Awards you can choose from to show your appreciation for the reviews, guides, forum posts, and other community content posted by folks in the community. This update also makes a few changes to how Community Awards work and how many Steam Points they cost. Read on for details.
This update retires the set of awards that have been around since the beginning of the Community Awards program. We're replacing them withΒ this fresh new set of 12 awards, lovingly illustrated and animated for maximum gratification when giving and receiving!
Just as before, you can purchase these awards using your Steam Points (earned by buying games), and use them in Steam Community to show your appreciation for things like user reviews, forum posts, guides, screenshots, artwork, Workshop mods, or even directly on your buddy's Steam profile.Β
New: Awards no longer transfer points
When we originally created Steam Community Awards, the idea was for them to not only look cool but to also grant a small number of Steam Points to the recipient, meaning they could be used as a tip of sorts for people who create and share amazing content with the Steam Community. However, we found that this encouraged and rewarded a narrow set of attention-grabbing content and didn't allow the focus to be as much on a broader pool of thoughtful, well-considered creative content.Β
Because of this, we're refocusing the system: The Second Edition of Steam Community Awards won't transfer points. Instead, the goals of the system will be solely about conveying the appreciation of the viewer to the content creator, and as a signal to others that someone appreciated the piece of content.
Any pending point transfers will complete like normal, but new award applications will not convey points.
Awards now all cost the same number of Steam Points
We've also made Community Awards all cost the same number of Steam Points, making it less confusing to choose an appropriate reaction. Now each Community Award costs 500 Steam Points.
Profile Showcase counts up your awards
The new Second Edition Community Awards will be included in the Awards Showcase that you can add to your Steam Profile.Β
If you want to show off the fact that you are generous in your giving of awards, or how much appreciation you've received for the cool stuff you've created, the Community Awards showcase features both of those numbers. This number will include all awards given and received, whether they were First Edition or Second Edition.
Q. I've got 3,141,592,653,589 Steam Points. What do I do with them all?
A. Show your appreciation for the fine content shared in the Steam Community by giving Community Awards. Each time you see a user review, forum post, guide, screenshot, artwork or other Steam community post, click the little AWARD icon and select a thematically-appropriate award to grant that content.
Q. Do Community Awards impact the sort order of content?
A. Nope. User generated content posted to Steam is typically ordered by how recent it is or by the number of helpful votes it has received. The number or type of Steam Community Awards applied to a piece of content does not cause that content to appear higher or lower on lists. Though we expect that a piece of content with a bunch of awards may be more likely to catch your eye, and thus may get more helpful ratings indirectly.
Q. What happened to my favorite Community Award?
A. The Second Edition set of Community Awards is intentionally a smaller set of awards, each one meaning something distinct from the others. This set is designed to make it quicker and easier to choose and keep the vibes positive.
The First Edition awards cannot be granted anymore.
Q. Is there a Second Edition badge?
A. First Edition series of Community Awards had two associated badges, the Community Contributor and Community Patron badges, which leveled up with each award given or received. These badges will remain on profiles that had granted or received First Edition Community Awards, but will not include Second Edition awards. If you are looking to count up the number of awards that you have given or received, you can find that count by visiting your Awards Summary page.
